    Plan of Salvation

It is my prayer that you have come to a point in your life where you feel that you need to come closer to Christ, He will help you to do just that.

If you are ready right now to accept Him as your personal savior and Lord, would you pray this simple prayer right now?

“Lord Jesus, I know I have fallen away from You, and now I want to come back to You. Please forgive me where I have failed You. I am rededicating my life to You. In Your name I pray. Amen.”

If you need to know a little more in order to accept Christ as your personal savior and make Him Lord of your life, please work your way through the following verses and instructions.

The Roman Road to Salvation

The Roman Road is a group of Bible verses from the book of Romans in the New Testament. If you work your way down this road, you will understand how to take advantage of the salvation that Christ offers so freely. You need to understand some other facts first. Read and think about the following verse.

Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We know what sin is. Many people think sin is whatever we do that hurts others in any way. That is part of it, but God does not look at sin that way. God looks at sin as anything that goes against His commandments. In other words, no matter what we do or who we do it to, we are sinning against God. We must admit our sin against God so He can forgive us. The first step on the Roman Road is to realize that we have sin in our hearts.

Do you recognize that you are a sinner? You need to admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a, For the wages of sin is death.

Sin has a penalty. The penalty for sin is death. This is not physical death. Physical death is a result of sin that entered the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Everyone faces physical death.

The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is not physical death. This death is far worse. It is spiritual death. Spiritual death pushes us away from God. Spiritual death will last for all of eternity. The Bible teaches there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. Spiritually dead people will go there and never leave.

You need to realize that this means you too.

Romans 6:23b, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is hope! God offers us His salvation. The best part is that this salvation is a gift from God to you. You cannot earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it. That is all you have to do. He is waiting for you to do just that. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and then ask Him to save you.

Romans 5:8, God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

If we had to pay the penalty for our sins, it would be spiritual death. Jesus changed all that when He died on the cross for our sins. He paid the penalty for our sins. He paid it for all sin, and when He did that, we no longer have to be slaves to sin and death! He only asks that we believe in Him and all He has done for us. Because of this, we are one with Him, and He has become our life. He gave Himself for us because He loved us so much that He was willing to die for us!

Turn your life over to God. His love poured out to us in Jesus on the cross. He is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. Because of His love, we are no longer slaves to sin. There is only one way to salvation. It is not religion or church membership. It is turning everything over to God. God loves you, and His love saves you.

Romans 10:13, For “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Verse 13 does not say He will save some. It does not say only those who do certain good deeds. It does not say those who have religion. It does not say those who go to church. You can do all those things and still be lost.

Verse 13 says those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Call on His name right now. Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9-10, if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 With the heart, you believe, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth you confess, resulting in salvation.

This passage is saying that you have to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and then you need to confess aloud that you are a sinner and you want Jesus to come into your heart and save you.

If you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, confess that you are a sinner and ask Him to come into your heart.

Jesus said,

Revelation 3:20, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Is Jesus knocking on your heart’s door? All He is asking is for you to believe in Him. He wants you to ask Him to come into your heart by faith, so He can reveal Himself to you.

Open the Bible now to the Gospel of John and read what God says in Chapter One about Jesus, about you, and about salvation.

God will help you. He loves you.

Now that you have worked your way through the “Plan of Salvation,” You should be ready to accept Jesus Christ as your savior and make Him Lord of your life. Please pray the following prayer.

“Lord Jesus, I come to you now, a sinner. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins, to save me, and make me whole again. Please come into my life and make me yours and be Lord of my life. In your name I prey, Amen.”
